As you prepare to partake in the Martech FEST next week, let’s explore Utrecht – a city that blends chic urban culture with rich history and high-tech innovation. Architecture and History

Dom Tower – Gracing the skyline of Utrecht, the iconic Dom Tower is a must-visit. As the tallest church tower in the Netherlands standing proudly at 368 feet, it boasts stunning gothic architecture. Relish the panoramic view of the city from the top, after a rewarding climb.

UNESCO’s Rietveld Schröder House – A vivid example of the De Stijl art movement, this visually engaging house is a piece of architectural history you wouldn’t want to miss. Remember, it’s UNESCO-listed for good reasons!

Utrecht Centraal Museum – Home to a great variety of artistic and historical artifacts, spend a few tranquil hours here if time allows.

Train Geek? Then you must make time for Spoorwegmuseum is exceptional.

Great Walks

Canals of Utrecht – Wander alongside Utrecht’s beautiful canals. Unmissable are the unique wharf cellars housing cafes and terraces right at water level. Try a canal cruise to fully appreciate these picturesque waterways, we have one organised on Saturday morning, 9th September. Reach out for details.

De Haar Castle – Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and venture to this enchantingly restored castle. The expansive castle gardens are perfect for a relaxing stroll amid nature.

Food and Drink

In the Lombok Area of Utrecht you are over run with amazing Arab, middle eastern and Persian restaurants amongs others. Offering great food and some of the best value in the city. Try the maneesh for 2 euro at Soma Nour at 33 Damstraat , a few mins walk from the NH. Or the sweets at Nooran at number 30 Damstraat. The best places do not have websites.

Utrecht Food Markets – For the food adventurists, Utrecht’s outdoor markets are a haven. Expect to stumble upon a divine mix of local cheeses, fresh produce, and much more.

A great steak house, although the service is hit and miss is Gauchos. On the canal!

A great vegan and vegetarian very close to the venue is the Green House. Taken several meat eaters and no complaints, its a great location and atmosphere. Staff are great. Menus are in Dutch but they will explain to you.

There are tons of great Indonesian and other Asian street food places, but we particularly like The STREET FOOD CLUB fusion cocktail bar and tapas.

Utrecht Festivals in September

The Queer Film Festival is running from the 1st to the 8th of September

Smeerboel Festival is on the 9th of September, diverse artists, let the whole of Utrecht go crazy every year, with crazy fringe programming and flashy party noise.

The UIT Festival, a MASSIVE cultural activity, the UITfestival Waterland from Friesland.

TivoliVredenburg – Seize the opportunity to enjoy a range of music genres at this premier music venue. Their concert calendar is vast, with events almost every evening.
